August 2015 Monthly Minutes

The McKean Township Trustees met in regular session August 17, 2015 with Trustees Wintermute, McInturff, Schwartzenberger, and Fiscal Officer Ellas answering roll call.   McKean Road Supervisor Terry Holtz also attending.  After the pledge to the flag, the trustees reviewed the reports of fund balances, bank reconciliation, purchase orders and blanket certificates.  Fiscal Officer Ellas stated as reported by the county, the property tax monies should be deposited to the townships sometime this week. The balance of our road bills will be paid at that time. Motion by Trustee Wintermute, seconded Trustee McInturff, all agreed to accept the reports.

Road Supervisor-Terry reported that the second mowing had been started and that a few trees needed to be cleared for visibility at Chatham Rd and Mt. Herman.  He is still looking for a good phone number to reach Hopewell about brine for the roads. Terry also talked with trustees about a drive issue causing problems on Lafayette Rd.  Discussion then turned to road conditions.  Lundys Lane was next on our list to take care of. The trustees discussed all of the prep work that needed to be done before they would proceed with chip and seal.  So far this year we have completed chip/seal on Timbuk Rd, Lafayette Rd S and part of Chatham.  It was discussed we could rent a machine to grind up parts of Lundys and leave till next year, in the meantime to do all the ditching that was also needed.  The other option would be to have Small’s Asphalt do the grinding of the road.  After discussing all the options and calculating the money for each possibility, motion made by Trustee McInturff, seconded Trustee Schwartzenberger, all agreed to allocate a sum, not to exceed $9500.00, for rental of grinding  machine and purchase of any asphalt grindings needed to do portions of Lundys and Cat Run by our three road workers.

New Business-Motion was made by Trustee McInturff, seconded Trustee Wintermute, all agreed to pay today’s bills and accept the minutes as presented.  With no further business before the board, motion by Trustee McInturff, seconded Trustee Wintermute all agreed to adjourn.
