The McKean Township Trustees met in regular session February 11, 2019 with Trustees Wintermute, McInturff, Schwartzenberger, and Fiscal Officer Ellas answering roll call. President Wintermute led the group in the pledge to the flag, then opened the floor to the audience.
Audience-Rick Campbell, rep from Waste Away and Kevin Campbell were present questing the status of the waste hauling in McKean Township. Kevin Campbell, resident, stated they were unhappy with the current service and many others in our community. The Trustees stated they were currently dealing with our County Prosecutor about the situation and soon they will be bidding out for a new service. The Trustees thanked them for stopping in.
Zoning-Tom Frederick had one zoning appeal application for the month which the hearing is set for February 28. He also talked of a few zoning changes needing to be done in our zoning rules. He will set a meeting date for the zoning board to start reviewing the possible changes. Our zoning rules have not had changes in many years.
Reports-The trustees reviewed the fund balances, bank reconciliation, purchase orders and blanket certificates. Motion to accept all as presented by Trustee McInturff, seconded Trustee Schwartzenberger, all agreed. Monroe Twp Fire Dept reported they had made 46 runs into McKean Township for 2018.
Road Supervisor-Terry reported that the Ford 550 needs lights and the fuel filter was completely plugged. We were also in need of #4 gravel. Kevin Campbell stated that during the cold months, fuel needs additives. The township will check with their fuel provider about what they recommend and Terry agreed he should change the filter more often in the cold months. He discussed that ditching needed done on many of the roads. Motion by Trustee Mcinturff, seconded Trustee Schwartzenberger, all agreed to apply for OPWC monies for S. Chatham Road and Timbuk. They will contact the county engineer and start the paper work necessary. The trustees and Terry talked about their efforts to locate a trailer to haul the equipment safely throughout the township as needed for road work. Trustee Schwartzenberger located a 22’ trailer for $8250. It would haul anything we have safely. After discussion as to color and what to sell our current trailer for, motion made by Trustee Wintermute, seconded Trustee McInturff, all agreed for Trustee Schwartzenberger or Terry to make the purchase. Terry also agreed to check about getting the state mandated new signs for the township.
New Business-The Trustees agreed to send a letter to the County Prosecutor asking to help in collecting several delinquent taxes in the township. Trustee McInturff agreed to follow up.
Motion by Trustee McInturff, seconded Trustee Schwartzenberger, all agreed to pay all of the bills but one and minutes as presented. After some discussion as to the appropriation report presented by the fiscal officer, motion by Trustee Wintermute, seconded Trustee Schwartzenberger, all agreed to accept the 2019 appropriations. It will be filed with the Licking County Auditor. After much discussion about road conditions during the rainy, snowing days, motion to adjourn by Trustee Wintermute, seconded Trustee McInturff, all agreed.
