  1. Pledge of Allegiance

Dannette McInturff called to order the regular meeting of the McKean Township at 7:00pm on Monday, August 14th.

  1. Roll call and Guests Discussion

The following members were present:

  1. Trustee Jerry Schwartzenberger, Trustee Dannette McInturff, Trustee Jeff Wintermute, Fiscal Officer Lindsey Hoskinson, Assistant Bev Hansel, Zoning Inspector Larry Hansel, Maintenance Supervisor Bradd Bruce
  2. Not present: n/a

Guests:

Wes Dodsworth, McKean Township Organization.

  • Shared results of Hartford Fair food booth. Strong sales despite short labor.
  • Utica Homecoming is August 23rd. Will sell doughnuts, beef and noodles, and chicken noodles in the Firehouse.
  • High School students that need Community Service Hours can work. Contact Bill or Lisa.
  • The next MCO meeting is the Third Tuesday of August, the 22nd.

David Shipley, Riley Road.

  • Came to say Thanks for the work we did on Riley Road. It has really cut down on the dust and looks great.  He also expressed that they are willing to help with whatever is needed to continue on down the road.
  • Township Roads Report – Bradd

Road Maintenance:

  • Chip and Seal is done. Total of 7.5 road miles completed
  • Riley Road (double coated) approximate cost = $30,000
  • Hauled stone on Cat Run and ran down the middle of Timbuk road to improve compaction and equal dispersion of chip seal application.
  • Ditched Hankinson Road’s hill
  • Will complete mowing this week and need to start trimming trees

Zoning Report – Larry

Discussed the current status of the Comprehensive planning committee.

Dannette moved to retain Attorney Pete Griggs (up to $15,000 legal fees) to assist the Comprehensive Planning team in completion of the Comprehensive Plan to present to the Trustees.  Jeff seconded.  Motion passed unanimously.  Jeff will contact Jim Bidigare to engage Mr. Griggs as soon as possible.

Larry attached his Zoning activity for the month of July.  Attached with Minutes.

Larry reviewed questions from residents with the Trustees.

  1. Cemetery Report – Bev

Bev is picking up a sign for the Cemetery to direct people to Lots.  This will be paid for from the ARPA Funds.

Bev and Connie are continuing to organize the Cemetery plots and files.

They have also been working on rewording Deed language so that family members are required to contact us if they move away and no longer want their lot in our Township.

Bev has a bucket of D2, a cleaner that will help clean headstones.  This is used at the Granville Colonial Cemetery.

Bev also posted 3 flags at the Cemetery because she knows there are 3 Veterans there.  Her 4-H club posts these and flags are provided by American Legion.

 Fiscal Officer Report – Lindsey

August minutes were reviewed and approved.

Trustees and Fiscal Officer reviewed and approved prior months Receipts, Payments, and Fund Activity.  Also reviewed and approved paying all electronic bills and all checks presented.  Motion made by Dannette and seconded by Jeff.

  • Trustees Report

Trustees discussed certified letter issued to homeowner regarding collapsed abandoned home officially condemned by Licking County Health Dept to be removed which owner received on July 31, 2023.  If by Sept. meeting the sheriff sale has not progressed, Trustees will pass a resolution to remove the home.

Dannette brought forth the need for a fence around the Cemetery across the road from the Township house.  Jeff and Dannette will both call a fence company to get bids.
